First impressions are important! See if I'm the right therapist for you.
I work with clients who know something needs to change but they don't know how. They are good people who feel stuck doing the same things over without positive results, or people who just want to stop hurting someone they love.
-I help people make relationships work and feel close again;
-transform painful past experiences into strengths;
-restore a sense of control to people's lives;
-manage change and navigate uncertainty;
-live with deeper self-respect and appreciation;
-equip parents to raise resilient, loving kids;
-empower kids with grit to grow into their full potential.
Often my clients have been victims of a traumatic experience. My clients are motivated, willing to try new things, and they want to feel better. They often have a secret fear that their problems are insurmountable, or the hurt from their past can never be overcome. My clients get results.
Using Developmental and Emotionally Focused Therapy, I help couples restore their relationship to greater intimacy. I offer two-day intensives for couples who want to get momentum for lasting change. I effectively treat adolescents who act out of their pain. I utilize EMDR, Cognitive Processing Therapy and Lifespan Integration to heal trauma. My specialty in Family Therapy targets complicated family systems. I have other certifications, but the one I appreciate the most is Post-modern, Narrative-Solution Focused. I also have another degree, in theology, which means I take people's faith seriously and work within their spiritual resources.
My roots run deep. I've been doing this work for over 30 years, most of it in L.A. But I grew up in Central Washington, and returned to care for my own family. Most of my clients begin to see change within 10-12 sessions. 80% of my clients experience a positive side-effect of therapy - improvement in their employment or status in life. That's because when we feel better about our selves, or we live more congruently within ourselves, good things start to happen that we could not anticipate. However, it takes courage to make changes, even positive ones. It's a daring step you are taking.
